CURRENT OPPORTUNITY:  Director of Human Resources

Job Summary

  • The Director of Human Resources will be responsible for providing leadership in developing and managing programs that attract, motivate, develop, reward and retain the best people to meet the organization’s goals and objectives.  This includes efficient and effective implementation and management of numerous aspects of human resources including the daily direction and maintenance of all human resources functions including but not limited to recruitment, retention, performance management, training, policies, benefits and knowledge of federal and state labor laws.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop a strong understanding and appreciation of the organization’s structure, culture and objectives in order to develop and implement human resources programs and processes that are aligned with and sensitive to the organization’s mission, values and objectives.
  • Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering policies and helping resolve work-related problems.
  • Provide human resources support to branch locations.
  • Meet regularly with supervisors and managers to stay informed, to offer direction and support for inter-departmental projects.
  • Responsible for the management, development and administration of an effective recruitment program.
  • Plan and administer new employee onboarding to foster a positive attitude toward organizational objectives.
  • Confer with leadership team and conduct surveys to identify training needs to develop new training programs or modify and improve existing programs.
  • Prepare employees for assignments by establishing orientation and training programs and maintaining documentation of the training provided to employees.
  • Plan, develop, and provide training and staff development programs.
  • Analyze and modify compensation and benefits plans to establish competitive programs and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
  • Manage all employee performance management and recognition programs to ensure that they encourage improved performance.
  • Annually review and make recommendations to the leadership team for improvement of the organization’s policies, procedures and practices on human resources matters.
  • Identify legal requirements and reporting regulations and ensures policies, procedures and reporting are in compliance.
  • Communicate changes in policies and procedures and ensure proper compliance.
  • Represent the organization at employee-related hearings and investigations.
  • Analyze and control expenditures of department to conform to budgetary requirements.
  • Participate on committees and special projects and seek additional responsibilities.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, business administration or related field preferred.
  • HRCI or SHRM certification preferred.
  • At least 10 years of increasing responsibility in the Human Resources field preferred.
  • At least 5 years of management experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in the construction industry would be a plus.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential job duties and responsibilities.

  • Must be able to maintain a high degree of professionalism.
  • Good working knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Internet and database programs.

Work Environment

A majority of work takes place in an indoor office setting equipped with a computer, desk, phone and other typical office equipment. Some work occurs in the field and travel to other locations is occasionally required for meetings and trainings.
